NZ PostMike Yates, director of Yates Freight, was employed by NZ Post Office in their workshops as an apprentice mechanic in 1979 qualifying with them as an A-Grade Mechanic in 1987. 1995In 1995 Mike was made redundant from NZ Post and with his pay-out, purchased an owner/driver transport business delivering paper-based products around the Wellington region. This was the only time in his working career that he was not connected to the NZ Post structure. |
First ContractThen in 1996 Mike gained his first contract with NZ Post delivering mail and courier products around the Wellington region. GrowthMike has since grown the business into a large freight company contracting to NZ Post, and later undertaking similar contracts with Roadstar Transport. |
The FleetThe company operates a fleet of newer vehicles including a number of Volvo FH12 8x4 curtain-siders pulling four-axle trailers, Volvo FM 6x2 and 2 x trailers, FH12 6x4 tractors (truck cab) which usually haul five or six-axle B-trains, FD4x2 Hino Trucks and an FG 6x4 local delivery truck. |
